Partnership can be a strange word in a business context, unless we're talking about a business owned by more than one person. Why doesn't J&J talk about team or teamwork? Those seem like very good "workplace words."
They are...but we mean more than "team" when we say "partnership." In many workplaces, teams are made up of people who work together because they have similar skills, similar jobs, or because they need to get something done together. By contrast, all partners actively choose each other.
At J&J, we transform teams that must work together to partnerships of people who choose to work together. And that simple shift makes all the difference!
